Overview
The Challenge
55% of teenagers believe that their live would be worse than the previous generation at the age of 30. They are concerned about climate change but hesitant to voice their opinions.
How Might We (HMW)
encourage them to talk socially and connect with like-minded individuals? How can they support climate action and low energy consumption at home?

"I want to be a part of the society that is fighting for a better tomorrow."
Key Pain Points
A proto-persona was created to understand the target user group better. Based on the assumptions and further secondary research, few pain points took the spotlight,
The Solution
Providing teens with the right space to actively engage with climate issues and join climate-positive communities to boost their confidence. Additionally, helping them manage energy consumption at home through smart meter data and use it effectively.
Project Goals
The experience for the user should be
User Testing
Brainstormed few ideas to create interactive features to capture teens' attention and encourage them to take the lead. Conducted user testing on low-fidelity designs and the key feedback is summarised below.

“The game interface is quite interesting and engaging.”
The participant was actually trying to solve the quiz, shows he was quite involved with it.

Low System of Visibility Status
There is no information regarding the number of total questions.
There is no tab to move to the next question if I don’t know this one.
The close tab is hindering the quiz key spaces.

The app looks clean and is easy to navigate as well.
“I like using dark mode, it’s easier to look for me but there should always be both as an option.”

Showing a specific value/amount is a tricky part because it can be disappointing if someone isn't saving enough. Generally the value is quite low from energy shifts. [Faculty Review]

“Energy shifting feature is an interesting way to save some energy and penny.”
There should be more interesting ways to plan energy saving with easy understanding of the features.

Having fun facts at the start of the home page can be confusing but it's a good way to engage and enhance users knowledge on the topic around the app. [Faculty Review]
Final Design
User testing revealed valuable insights that helped improve the user experience in the high-fidelity prototype. The app is
ECOBIZZ
A feature to play weekly quizzes and win rewards that can be shared on Ecocircle, a community page for eco-conscious individuals.

ECOSHIFT
A feature that helps to pre-plan energy use with the help of a smart meter data when the demand is low, which helps to save energy at home better. Set a reminder and let the app take care of the rest.

Every time a user opt for 'Ecoshift' to lower their energy consumption, the plant grows metaphorically to show the lower energy consumption and the impact it had on the environment.
Every time a nurturing plant bloom flowers, a reward is unlocked.
